Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Explore Tsavo West and Diani Beach Holiday Safari
Day 1: Pickup from Nairobi and Transfer to Tsavo West National Park.
On the first day of the safari, your driver will pick you up at the hotel or airport. The travel to Tsavo West National Park will take roughly 6 to 7 hours. Tsavo West National Park is a famous tourist attraction in the semi-arid Taru Desert, near the town of Voi. The park is well-known for its enormous population of man-eater lions and red elephants; whose color comes from the red dust they roll in.
Upon arrival, you will immediately embark on an en-route wildlife drive to the resort for lunch. In the afternoon, visit Mzima Springs to see crocodiles and hippos swimming underwater. Later, travel back to your lodging for supper and overnight.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Tsavo West National Park
For this day, you will go on game drives with your driver-guide to explore the local animals and learn about this wonderful area. You’ll admire the volcanic formations, including the picturesque Shetani Lava, an old lava flow that formed in the adjacent Chyulu Hills. You will also visit Mzima Springs, a beautiful wetland where you may go game viewing on foot. Great creatures to look forward to include African lions, Nile hippos, leopards, savannah elephants, smaller kudus, and cheetahs. Expect to see golden-breasted starlings, tawny eagles, and Eastern paradise whydah.
You will also visit the stunning Ngulia Valley Rhino Sanctuary, where we will look for black rhinoceros. The rhino experience is one of the highlights of our Kenya bush safaris. The indigenous baobab trees will brighten your tour through this magnificent location. Return to the lodge in the evening for supper and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Diani Beach
You will proceed on an early morning wildlife drive to Mzima Springs. Crystal-clear water flows from subterranean springs thought to originate from Mount Kilimanjaro. Enjoy observing water life such as hippos, crocodiles, fish, and many bird species. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Then you’ll check out and enjoy a quick game watching on your way to Voi or Mtito Andei rail station. You will travel by train to Mombasa and then be taken to Diani Beach, arriving at your accommodation early in the evening. You’ll check in and rest for the day.
Day 4: Wasini Island Safari Blue Experience
Leave your beach resort or lodge early for an unforgettable tour of the Wasini Dolphin Adventure. The picturesque path passes past lush coconut and cashew nut farmlands, as well as Digo settlements. Arrive at Shimoni Jetty and board a motorized glass bottom dhow (boat), which will take you through a magnificent panorama of islands to Kenya’s richest marine park (Kisite Island).

Being led by a dolphin specialist enhances the enjoyment of this Wasini tour. Snorkeling on Kisite Island’s natural coral garden will allow you to see the abundant marine life. A traditional, exquisite seafood lunch will be given on board to allow you to spend as much time as possible with the dolphins, or you may visit Wasini Island’s restaurant. Exploration of Mupunguti Island affords excellent vantage positions for viewing dolphins frolic and hearing for dolphin whistles blowing in the serene quiet. After that, return to Shimoni Jetty for a ride back to your hotel.
Day 5: Fly Back to Nairobi and Departure.
You will spend your morning at leisure and then take the ferry to Mombasa and drive to the airport where you will board your flight to Nairobi airport from where you will then board your flight back home.
