The Mtito Andei gate got its name from the village in which it is located, and is one of the easy to use and convenient gates of Tsavo West National Park given it can be used by both road, railway and air means. By road, Mtito Andei gate is only 233km south east Nairobi city. Mtito Andei road is one of the only two gates of Tsavo West National Park found inside the park. Mtito Andei gate hosts the park offices of the Kenya Wildlife Services which protect and conserve the park, and also has craft shops, small cafeterias where travellers can have refreshments as well as buy some souvenirs if interested.
Tsavo Gate
Tsavo gate is one of the two key gates along with Mtito Andei gate, located in the north eastern part of Tsavo West National, only a few minutes’ drive from the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Lake Jipe gate
Lake Jipe gate is the most rarely used of all gates , given it is remotely located at the shores of Lake Jipe. Though rarely used by travellers, Lake Jipe gate is well-developed and has tourist facilities that travellers can use as well as a ranger post. Conveniently located within Lake Jipe airstrip of Tsavo West National Park, it is travellers who do have fly-in safaris that mostly use this particular gate of Tsavo West National park.
