Day 1: Pickup from Kampala and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Pickup in Kampala or Entebbe by your guide. After a short briefing, begin your journey to western Uganda, heading toward Kibale Forest National Park. The drive takes you through lush countryside, tea plantations, and small rural towns, offering a glimpse into local life. You may stop in Fort Portal for lunch, a scenic town set against the backdrop of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Arrive in the late afternoon and check into your lodge near Kibale Forest. Spend the evening relaxing, enjoying the sounds of the forest, and preparing for the next day’s chimpanzee tracking adventure.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, head to Kibale forest headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee tracking. Kibale forest is famous for being the primate capital of the world, home to over a dozen primate species. Guided by experienced rangers, you will trek through dense forest in search of chimpanzees. Once located, you will spend an hour observing them as they feed, groom, and interact with each other.

Return to the lodge for lunch and then depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive offers scenic views of crater lakes and rolling hills. Enter the park in the afternoon, and if time allows, you will get to enjoy a short game drive en route to your lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Begin your day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This area is known for its large herds of Uganda Kob, as well as predators such as lions and leopards. You may also spot elephants, buffalo, and various bird species.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. In the afternoon, head to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. This natural waterway connects Lake George and Lake Edward and attracts a high concentration of wildlife. Expect to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of birds along the shoreline.

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and head south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas. The drives take you through the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Keep your camera ready, as you may spot lions lounging in fig trees.

Continue your journey through scenic highland landscapes, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa,” with terraced hills and local villages. Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi in the afternoon. Spend the evening resting and preparing for the highlight of your trip, which is gorilla trekking.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest

Wake early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety. You will be assigned to a gorilla family group and guided by experienced trackers into the forest.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. The terrain can be steep and dense, but the experience is incredibly rewarding. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat, watching them feed, play, and interact.

After the gorilla trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, you may opt for a community walk to visit local villages and learn about traditional culture. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Return to Entebbe and Departure

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Entebbe. Depending on your schedule, you can either take a domestic flight for a quicker return or drive back, which takes most of the day. Along the way, you may stop at the equator for photos and souvenir shopping. Arrive in Entebbe or Kampala in time for your drop-off at a location of your convenience. End of Tour!
