Our 4 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trek and Lake Kivu Tour takes you on a journey to Rwanda as you explore the country’s capital city, greenery, history and culture, as well as primate parks. During these 4 Days Rwanda tour, you will a brief tour of Kigali city and then drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will track chimpanzees and embark on a guided hike along the famous canopy walkway. Finally wind up your tour at Lake Kivu where you will get to enjoy a boat ride on the lake and spend quality time engaging with the famous ‘singing fishermen of Lake Kivu’ and enjoy a coffee tour at Kinunu washing bay. Pickup and drop will be in Kigali.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trek and Lake Kivu Tour.
Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
In the morning, the driver will pick you up from your Kigali hotel and transport you south to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will stop in Butare to see the Rwandan National Museum and the King’s Palace in Nyanza, with lunch on route. Dinner and overnight at your hotel/lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walkway
Have breakfast and attend a briefing before entering the forest to look for lively and playful companions in Nyungwe forest. Chimpanzees are easy to see as they bounce from one tree to the next, talking and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking typically takes roughly three hours. You will then eat your packed lunch and return to the base, where you will meet your driving guide.
Following your packed lunch, you will go on a guided nature walk along the famed canopy walkway bridge, which is a 50-meter-long swing bridge hung from enormous trees. You will be able to observe the spectacular rainforest from a bird’s eye view, witnessing wildlife moving about below you before returning to your hotel to relax for the evening. This hike only takes two hours.
Later, travel return to your hotel/dinner for dinner and an overnight stay as described above.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Enjoy your breakfast early and then travel for roughly 4 hours to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi, arriving in time for lunch at the hotel. Later in the afternoon, you will go on a boat ride on Lake Kivu, where you will have the opportunity to visit some of the lake’s islands and birds.
Drive back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Coffee Tour and Transfer Back to Kigali
Afterwards, meet your guide and go on a coffee trip to Kinunu washing station in Gisenyi. Take a tour of the facilities to learn more about Rwandan coffee production, from harvesting to processing and packaging. Finish your coffee tour with a nice cup of coffee, and support the locals by purchasing some of their homemade coffee.
You will have lunch and then travel back to Kigali. Upon arriving in Kigali, you can request that your driver drop you off at any hotel of your choosing or at Kigali International Airport, where you will take your journey back home.
