Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Kigali city tour
Upon your arrival in Kigali International Airport, our driver guide shall be waiting to pick you up at the airport. He will give you a short brief of your 8 Days Uganda and Kenya safari and then proceed to transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. Depending on your time of arrival, you shall have a mini Kigali city tour to have you know a few things about Rwanda say the history and the way of life of the Rwandese. Some of the places you shall visit include the Kigali city market, the genocide memorial and others. After, you shall head to the hotel from where you shall enjoy your dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mutanda, Boat Safari
On this 2nd day of your 8 Days Uganda and Kenya safari, you shall wake early in the morning to a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel and then check out and proceed for a transfer to Lake Mutanda in Uganda. The journey takes about 3 hours, and takes you through some of the most scenic areas of Rwanda’s rolling hills. Upon your arrival in Lake Mutanda, you shall check into your lodge of stay, relax as you await lunch to be served. After lunch, you shall go for a boat safari on Lake Mutanda and be rewarded with some of the most stunning views in the whole of Uganda. Lake Mutanda is bilharzia free and therefore possible to have a dip in it if you feel the urge to. Enjoy watching the locals in a far distance, and be amazed by the beautiful sunset as you head back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This 3rd day of your 8 Days Uganda and Kenya safari has you waking up early, have breakfast and then head out for a 2 hours’ drive to the start of your gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park experience. After being briefed about your gorilla trekking experience by park officials alongside other gorilla trekkers, you shall embark on the search of the gorillas in their natural habitat. Gorilla trekking can take anything from 2 hours to 6 hours or more, depending on where the gorillas are and the terrain that leads to them. Upon encountering the gorillas, you shall spend only one hour with them. After, trek back to the start of the gorilla trekking point. Be sure to look out for other wildlife in the park like warthogs as well as birds and a number of tree species. If you are up to it, you can take up a forest walk to explore the park further, or you choose to head to the lodge from where you can relax as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali, Flight to Nairobi, Nairobi city tour
Today, you shall wake up to a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge as the birds chirp not far off as well as butterflies, with some even coming up close. You shall then proceed to check out and transfer to Kigali International Airport in Kigali from where you shall catch a flight to Nairobi. Upon your arrival in Nairobi, you shall be picked up by our Kenya safaris guide who shall take you to your hotel of stay, check in and have lunch. You can choose to spend the rest of the day on a Nairobi city tour, or relaxing at the hotel as you await for dinner and an over night stay.
Day 5: Transfer to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Game drive
On this 5th day our 8 Days Uganda and Kenya safari, you shall enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then proceed for a transfer to the Maasai Mara National Reserve which is about 6 hours away. You shall arrive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve just in time for lunch which you shall have at the lodge after check in. After lunch, head out for a game drive in the great Maasai Mara National Reserve, best known for the annual wildebeest migration that has more than one million wildebeests and other animals like zebras crossing the Mara River to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. During the game drive, look out for a number of wildlife in the park which include buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, and so many others. After, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Balloon Safari, Game drive in Maasai Mara
Today, you shall wake up very early in the morning to a cup of coffee or tea, and then proceed to the starting point of your hot air balloon safari. Once you are floating up in the air over the Maasai Mara National Reserve, enjoy great aerial views of the area, and spot a number of wild animals roaming the park. Enjoy a sun rise while you are up in the sky. After about 2 or 3 hours, you shall enjoy your breakfast in the wilderness.
Proceed with a game drive in Maasai Mara after breakfast, enjoying getting much closer to the wildlife. You shall come across a variety of wildlife in the reserve including Jackson’s hartebeests, wildebeests, zebras, leopards, and so much more. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, and proceed with another game drive as you return to the lodge. Relax at the lodge as you await for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Full day game drives in Maasai Mara National Reserve
Today, you shall wake up very early in the morning and head out for full day game drives in Maasai Mara National Reserve. Your day shall start with an early morning game drive to spot a larger variety of wild animals as well as bird species like Abdim’s stork, ostriches, purple grenadier, rosy-throated long claw, secretary bird, silver bird, trilling cisticola, among so many others. Breakfast and lunch shall be enjoyed in the wild. During your full day game drives in Maasai Mara National Reserve, you shall get to also do a community tour of the local Maasai people from where you shall learn of their practices, traditions and current way of life. You can interact with them as well as take part in activities like singing or dancing their traditional dance, observe their unique dressing code items that you can purchase, and so much more. Return to the lodge in the evening as you chase the setting sun. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 8: Departure
On this last day of your 8 Days Uganda and Kenya safari, you shall wake up in the morning, enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then leave the Maasai Mara area enjoying your last game drive as you proceed for departure. Once in Nairobi, you shall have lunch at a selected restaurant and then proceed to be dropped off at the airport for an outbound flight.
