Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Kenya Classic Safari.

Day 1: Pickup from Nairobi and Transfer to Samburu Game Reserve

Following breakfast, we leave Nairobi and travel north over the shoulder of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second biggest peak, to the Samburu Game Reserve. When we arrive at our first lodge, we eat lunch before embarking on a spectacular afternoon game drive across Samburu. We set our tent along the Ewaso Nyiro River, shaded by palm trees and forests. The camp provides soothing cold showers to help you cool off and escape the heat of the African plains. Dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge in the reserve.

Day 2: Game drive in Samburu Game Reserve

Day two is dedicated to game watching in Samburu Reserve, where you will explore the broad grasslands and different landscapes in search of the variety of animals that inhabits the area. Samburu has lush woods, springs, and rivers that provide spectacular landscape. The game park is located on a lava plain with a diverse range of habitats, including thorn scrub, red mud, and dry river beds, as well as shattered volcanic rock, steep slopes, and rocky outcrops.

This region of Kenya is home to the rare Grevy’s zebra with big furry ears, gerenuk antelopes that eat on their hind legs, Somali ostriches with striking blue legs, and the shy Oryx.

Elephant and crocodile sightings are assured, and the reserve also has lion, hippo, and giraffes. There are over 365 kinds of birds to see, including several different weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a notable feature here.

The Samburu region is also home to intriguing people with a rich background, providing a vibrant cultural experience. Dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park- Game Viewing

Following breakfast, we break camp and return to the road, wildlife viewing as we leave Samburu Park.

We journey south through Kenya to Lake Nakuru National Park, stopping for lunch along the way. When we arrive at Lake Nakuru, we go on an afternoon game drive among the area’s compact fauna. This Kenyan game park has maintained its status as an ornithologist’s paradise, with over 400 bird species found here. The Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, and Long-crested Eagle are all bird species.

Lake Nakuru National Park

The lake is surrounded by the Nakuru National Park, which was established to conserve the area’s abundant bird life before becoming a national park to offer protection for endangered animals such as rhinos. There are around 25 white and black rhinos, one of the highest densities in the country. Predators also live in this park, and Rothschild’s giraffes have been relocated there for safety.

This relatively small park (180 square kilometers) also supports warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the rare leopard. The park has maintained its status as an ornithologist’s paradise, with over 400 bird species found here. We return to camp for supper and an overnight stay at your lodge in the park.

Day 4:  Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Today, after breakfast, we leave camp and go south to the well-known Masai Mara Game Reserve in southwest Kenya.

We travel through stunning savannah grasslands and plains in the Great Rift Valley on our approach to our second overnight campsite. Along the trip to our camp near Masai Mara, we keep an eye out for wildlife. We spend another tranquil night camping out in the wild woods, beneath starry African skies.

Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge in Mara.

Day 5&6: Full Day Game Drive

The following two days will be spent on game watching drives in Masai Mara. On clear days, the Masai Mara delivers stunning orange-tinged sunsets worth photographing. The Mara reserve spans 1510km² and has vast open spaces and lush riverine woods along the Mara and Talek rivers’ meanders. One look is enough to understand its allure as an iconic savannah with a plethora of magnificent species. An optional hot-air balloon expedition can be booked at an additional fee.

The Mara Reserve is teeming with wildlife, including Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, buffalo, zebras, and hippos. Lions are sometimes seen sunbathing after a hefty meal or exploring the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are tougher to see, although they are still rather abundant.

The pinnacle animal activity here is without a doubt the yearly wildebeest exodus in July and August, when millions of these grass-eaters migrate north from the Serengeti in search of greener pastures before returning south in October. The Great Migration is one of the most breathtaking nature shows on the planet!

Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Transfer Back to Nairobi

We have an early morning wildlife drive across the Masai Mara Reserve before returning to camp for breakfast. Then we return to lively Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, in the afternoon. This 7 Days Kenya Classic Safari winds up in Nairobi.
