Day 1: Pick up from Kigali International Airport/Lodge and transfer to Bwindi in Uganda
- Pick-Up & Transfer to Bwindi: Our company guide will pick you up from either Kigali International Airport or your Lodge of stay, depending on the arrangement. He will then share with you a brief of your 2-day Bwindi gorilla trekking from Kigali safari and then set off for a 3-hour drive to Bwindi National Park in Uganda, the home to over 400 mountain gorillas. The drive is scenic and your driver-guide will make necessary stops for you to enjoy the sights and take some postcard-worthy pictures. The border cross at Cyanika is smooth and fast-remember to purchase an East African travel visa that allows you entry to all East African countries. You will then head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and check-in at your lodge of stay. Nkuringo and Rushaga gorilla sectors are the most easily accessed from Rwanda. Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi
- Gorilla trekking experience: After your early breakfast at the lodge, you will walk or be transferred to the park headquarters from where you will meet other trekkers for a briefing by the park ranger. The park ranger will take you through what to expect from the whole gorilla trekking experience, and also thou are expected to follow at all times. You will then be allocated a gorilla family to track and placed in groups of eight. Gorilla family allocation is based on one’s fitness levels, age and interest. You will then embark on the much anticipated once in a lifetime experience in search of the mountain gorillas. Upon encountering them, you are allowed only one hour with them. Utilize this time very well by taking pictures of yourself with the gorillas and videos that you will share with your friends and family. Take time to also watch these mountain gorillas as they go about their daily activities of eating and grooming themselves-you might even chance to have a playful juvenile come and interact with you!
- After the one hour, you will trek back to the headquarters from where you will have a certificate of gorilla trekking completion awarded to you. You will then drive back to Kigali through the Cyanika border to either the airport or lodge of stay. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch
