Detailed Itinerary for 11 Days Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda Wildlife Safari

Day 1. Transfer to Amboseli National Park, Game Drive and Walking Safari

Your Kenya safari guide shall pick you up at 7 am from your hotel in Nairobi. After a short brief about your safari, proceed on a transfer to Amboseli National Park, with your packed lunch boxes. Arrive in Amboseli National Park and make a game drive with a chance to view lions, elephants, buffalos, monkeys, and other kinds of animals. Marvel at the views of Kilimanjaro Mountain on a clear day, with a guided walking safari in the park. Later proceed to the camp, check in, and relax as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2. Transfer to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Evening Game Drive in Maasai Mara Kenya

After breakfast, drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve enjoying amazing views of communities and scenic views. Have an en-route lunch, and arrive in the park in the late afternoon hours.

Enjoy a sunset game drive, which will introduce you to the wild game of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Proceed to the lodge, relax as you wait for dinner wait for at the camp, and an overnight stay.

Day 3. Full Day Game Drives in Maasai Mara

You will have an early breakfast at your lodge ahead of your game-viewing activity in the open savannah plains of the reserve with your picnic lunch. You will search for a variety of wildlife species since they are more active at this time of day such as the big five which include lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos as well as other wildlife species such as giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, elands, zebras, topis among others.

You will enjoy your lunch after your morning game drive as you enjoy the beautiful scenery around the reserve and watch wildlife species grazing in the plains. After lunch, you will have another game drive in the reserve and then proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 4. Transfer to Nairobi, Flight to Kigali (Own Booking)

You will have an early breakfast at your camp and thereafter proceed to transfer to Nairobi, arriving in time for your booked flight to Kigali.

Upon your arrival, you shall be transferred by your guide to your hotel of stay for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5. Transfer to Volcanoes National Park- Ibyi’wacu Cultural Tour

Drive Time: Approx. 3 hours

After breakfast, proceed to transfer to Volcanoes National Park with a lunch stop en route. Once at the lodge, check in, and relax as you look forward to your gorilla trek the next day. Enjoy a cultural experience as well. Dinner and overnight at your designated lodge.

Day 6. Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your golden monkey trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the golden monkeys; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.

However, the guides will try to find them from where they were last seen the previous day! After the one-hour encounter with the gentle primates, you will drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7:  Transfer to Bwindi- Batwa Cultural Tour

After breakfast, you will drive to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park; arriving in time to check into your lodge and have lunch. After you have had your lunch and relaxed for a while, you will head out to visit the neighboring Batwa communities that live near the park. Get a chance to mingle with the friendly locals and learn more about their cultural heritage.

Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Early in the morning after your tasty breakfast, you will meet your driver who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing from the UWA officials about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking. After this, you will set off for the gorilla trek. This is a once-lifetime experience and unforgettable adventure. The ranger guides will lead you into the thick forest and start your search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour.

The activity can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the Gorillas. This is an awesome and exciting moment.  En route, there are other types of primates such as monkeys, birds, and more. After the trek, you will receive your Gorilla trekking certificate meet up with your driver/guide, and return to the lodge where you will spend the evening at leisure.

Day 9: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park- Crater Lakes Hike

Breakfast will be served by your lodge. Check out and meet your driver guide. You will then drive to Kibale Forest National Park which is approximately a 5-6-hour drive; with a stopover for lunch en route. You will also get a chance to embark on a hike to one of the crater lakes when in Kibale. The hike can take about 3 hours or less depending on your pace. Later drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and Bigodi Swamp Walk

Have breakfast early in the morning and then drive to the park’s headquarters for briefing. You will then embark on a guided hike into the Kibale forest in search of chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest can take between 1-4 hours and once you have located a chimpanzee family, you will be given an hour to spend with them. Later return back to your lodge for lunch and relax for a while.

Later in the evening, you will drive to the Bigodi community for an evening guided walking tour in the Bigodi Swamp where you will get to see the prehistoric Shoebill stork bird, Grand Blue Turac,o and many other bird species. Dinner will be served at your lodge.

Day 11: Drive Back to Entebbe- Departure

Wake up in time to have breakfast at your lodge. You will then check out and meet up with your driver guide. You will be driven to Entebbe where you will be dropped off at the airport or hotel as you will advise at the time of your booking. En route to Entebbe, you will have a stopover for lunch en route and also visit the equator monuments at Kayabwe if time allows.
