Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Tanzania Safari
Day 1: Arrival
When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), which handles local flights, you will be greeted by a representative from Explore Rwanda Tours who will bring you to your Arusha accommodations. Overnight and dinner, you will be in your hotel, awaiting your safari the next day.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
Following breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, an unspoiled wonderland known for its profusion of birdlife and tree-climbing lions.
The spectacular western escarpment of the Rift Valley serves as the park’s western boundary. To the east lies Lake Manyara, which is shallow and alkaline. Furthermore, the lake covers a huge portion of the park, flooding and drying as the seasons change, and is home to thousands of flamingos during the rainy season.
The name Manyara is derived from the Maasai term ’emanyara’, a common shrub used to construct a protective fence around a family house (boma). Clearly, the Park’s vegetation is diverse, ranging from savannah to evergreen forest. You may witness giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and elephants while exploring the park. If you’re lucky, you can see lions reclining in the woods.
After lunch and an extended game drive, head to our luxury lodges in Karatu for dinner and stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Drive
Depart for Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning, after breakfast. When you first visit Ngorongoro Crater, it seems like a forgotten world.
Hidden behind the sheer volcanic cliffs lies a natural environment with wide grassland, patches of acacia forest, and shimmering lakes and wetlands. It is especially noteworthy since the Crater was formed when a massive volcano burst and fell on itself two to three million years ago.
Furthermore, it is well-known for both its geological wonders and its status as a nature reserve with some of the densest big animal populations on the African continent.
Undoubtedly, the trip down into the Crater is an adventure in and of itself. When you reach the Crater bottom, you’ll find yourself surrounded by wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, and over 500 bird species.
In addition, the Crater offers the best opportunity of sighting the endangered black rhino, which can occasionally be spotted in the wide grasslands. After lunch, you will embark on another game drive before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Tarangire National Park and Drive Back to Arusha
Depart for Tarangire National Park early in the morning, following breakfast. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the area during the dry season. In sections, the flora is thick, including elephant grass, acacia trees, and a rich groundwater forest. The park is well-known for its elephant families, who may frequently be seen congregating along the river.
You may also witness giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeest. Predators such as lions and leopards follow these animals carefully. Tarangire National Park has the highest number of breeding bird species in the world! After lunch and an extended game drive, you will return to Arusha. Overall, this signals the end of your luxury safari vacation with us!
