Day 1: Pickup from Kampala/Entebbe and Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, our driving guide will pick you up and brief you on the day’s safari. The drive passes via Masaka district, with multiple stops, including one near the Uganda equator for photography and observation, and another at Igongo Cultural Centre for a visit to the Ankole Kigezi museum and lunch. Then continue your journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the country’s smallest national park, but home to fascinating species such as golden monkeys and mountain gorillas. After a lengthy travel, you will check into the safari lodge for lodging.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga
Begin your day right with a healthy breakfast. Pack your lunch and then travel to the park headquarters for a hike briefing. You’ll be joined with other trekkers and allocated to a certain gorilla family, all overseen by a trained ranger. Search for mountain gorillas by trekking through lush forest and challenging terrain. The journey might take anything from 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are.
Once you identify the gorilla family, you will have one hour to study and photograph these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat. Watching children play, eat, and connect with one another is a memorable and humbling experience. You will return to the resort to unwind before having supper and staying the night.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After an early breakfast, prepare for a spectacular golden monkey trekking adventure. This endangered species dwells in Mgahinga’s bamboo woods, and you will travel through them with trained guides and park officials. Before beginning the walk, you will be briefed on what to anticipate and how to engage with the monkeys. Set off on the trip, weaving through lush woodland and bamboo groves in quest of the golden monkeys. Depending on where the monkeys are, the trip might last several hours.
Once located, you will have an hour to witness these endearing creatures in their native habitat as they hop from tree to tree, grazing and playing.
After your hike, return to your lodge for lunch, check out, and transport to Lake Mburo National Park. Once there, check into your accommodations and enjoy a time to unwind after a long day.
Day 4: Game Drive and Transfer Back to Kampala
Wake up early, eat breakfast, and then go for an exhilarating game drive throughout the park. Lake Mburo National Park is well-known for its zebra, buffalo, and impala herds, as well as giraffes, elands, and a variety of birds, including the endangered shoebill stork. The park’s broad savannah and lush acacia woods offer good opportunities for animal observation. After the game drive, enjoy lunch, check out of your lodge, and start your journey back to Kampala.
